New languages available to support construction SMEs
Language barriers are often mentioned as a challenge in the construction sector. This relates both, to the actual work as people from several countries might be working on one construction site, as well as to EU level support measures as information often is only available in English. 

From its launch, this website and its main contents (the digital maturity scan, the handbook, the case studies, the training calendar) were already made available in German and French next to the original English. Through machine translation we have added also additional languages for the complete website, these include Spanish, Polish and Dutch. Further EU languages will be added in the future.

However, meaning might be lost in translation. For the handbook (Digital Maturity Growth for Construction SMEs), we therefore made use of professional translation services. Professional translations of the handbook are therefore prioritised. The handbook was developed with the aim to enable the digitalisation of European construction SMEs.The handbook covers 4 dimensions:

  1. Digital innovation strategy;
  2. Digital company processes;
  3. Digital ecosystem and culture;
  4. Digital technologies such as Building information modelling (BIM), 3D printing, robots, drones and more.

We are happy to announce that the handbook is now also available in Bulgarian, Croatian, Dutch, French, German, Italian, Spanish and Polish. Our aim is to provide all the relevant information on the website in across the various EU languages, so that we can ensure SMEs across the EU can benefit from its contents.
