Digital initiative

WAISENSE is a set of solutions for the construction sector to perform more efficient plumbing, heating and irrigation installations. Metrica6’s first market approach with this patented technology was WAISENSE COMFORT, a solution that avoids the typical waste of cold water users normally cause each time they wish to use hot water (e.g. when taking a shower). The innovation behind WAISENSE COMFORT is novel to the sector, as this solution can be implemented both during the project and building stages and also afterwards, with no need for additional work on the walls. In fact, the solution does not require a secondary or return pipe for hot water. Years after its launch, Metrica6 decided to create a platform for managers and a mobile app for users. Through the app, users can ask for hot water without physically going to the tap (so, for instance, a user can wake up, use the app, and have hot water running from their water heater remotely), and even schedule routines for using hot water (e.g. WAISENSE COMFORT activates 5 minutes before the alarm clock rings), visualise savings (in litres, €, CO2 emissions avoided), and much more. With the platform, managers can check the performance of every device installed, manage technical assistance, save costs, etc.

Relevant construction projects

Engineering, electronic design and programming, lean manufacturing, mechanical analysis. Takes part in product development, smart-cities and sustainable construction. Provides infrastructure monitoring PCB, water saving technologies for houses and businesses using hot water.

Experienced benefits of digitalisation

Adding the digitalisation component to this solution was key for its internationalisation process, in order to extend its life expectancy (also boosting circularity), allow Metrica6 to get to know customers better (regardless of the number of collaborators in between), and approach predictive and remote maintenance when needed.

Tips for effective implementation

The main barriers identified were the following: funding-related issues, finding the right team/subcontractor to develop required tools, making them simple enough for every user and professional (installers, builders, architects) to understand its benefits; and including tools in new building projects.

Metrica6 overcame those issues through effort, ingenuity, public and private (investors) funds, sectorial presentations and events, and many more actions.
